Governors
'Governors are committed to the sustainability of this small school and have supported the headteacher...' SIAMs Report March 2020
Welcome to Bawdsey CEVCP School Governors
At Bawdsey School the Governors are proud to support the school and staff as critical friends. We help with the direction and aims of the school, and we helped to write and now uphold the School's Vision and three I statements. We ensure the school follows these principles in all it does and that it is a safe and happy environment for all the pupils, staff and visitors to learn in.
The Governors uphold Nolan's seven principles of public life. *Selflessness, Integrity, Objectivity, Accountability, Openness, Honesty and Leadership.'
All the Governors feel it is important to give back to their communities, and they have helped the school in many ways through this dedication.
Helping with School safety and larger building works:
We have helped to source funding and provided hands on help with the new teaching kitchen, we have assisted in ensuring necessary big building works have come to fruition like the new filtration system under the field, the roof repairs and pinnacle replacement. The new school fencing is the next big project being orchestrated by the Governors and funded with the school budget.
Cutting costs going to families:
We have been supporting the Leadership team's ideas in supporting families financially. We try to keep costs low for Parents/ Carers; like offering matched funded childcare for 3+ year olds, not charging for after school clubs or music tuition and for offering four years worth of swimming for two terms each year for the children in KS2 (this is, so they can be safe being at a school so close to the Sea) and by agreeing to reduce all Breakfast club and After School Care club costs when the financial crisis hit the UK in 2022.
Due diligence:
Part of our role is also to ensure due diligence in everything the school does. Like ensuring the school has enough in the budget to be able to succeed in its vision for the pupils year-on-year and in widening its opportunities, experiences and academic offer to the pupils, We benchmark what the school is planning against other schools Nationally with a similar context, to check it is using Government funding as it should be,
Overall we are friendly and approachable and if you wish to speak to one of our Governors, please ask through the school office, or catch us at pickup time.
We are proud of all Bawdsey school offers its stakeholders and our part in this.
